Southern Heart has a deep dedication to bluegrass that can be heard in every note they play. Honoring the traditional sound, while taking a giant step in a style and direction all their own.

     Belinda Carpenter and Rhonda Kelley growing up in a family of bluegrass bring a lifetime of instrumental and vocal experience to the band. Belinda’s distinctive rock-solid banjo style and lead vocals, and Rhonda’s crowd pleasing fiddle and harmony vocals set them apart from the rest of the pack. Their vocals are sung with passion and grace. Together they share an extraordinary, beautiful sister-harmony. Their amazing songwriting talents are truly exceptional. Each is a gifted songwriter with a distinctive, personal voice and styles that appeal to a broad range of tastes. They give new music the feeling of old with their fierce commitment to traditional bluegrass audiences.

     Ray Westmoreland’s rhythmic guitar style, and baritone harmony, is an integral part of Southern Heart. Ray is a talented multi-instrumentalist who has over thirty years of bluegrass experience.

     Randy Abbott adds a brilliant touch with his arranging contributions, and harmony vocals. Playing the dobra for the band he has added great depth to the music. Randy has spent the last ten years as a session musician and has recorded with many top artists.

     Rodney Murphree is an impressive mandolin player with a unique, touch. He has brought all-around good musicianship to the group.

     Don Kelley is a rock solid bassist for the band that adds crowd pleasing traditional bluegrass music to their sound.

     Southern Heart has toured extensively through-out the Southeast, performing at local and regional festivals and events for the past four years. Their albums are receiving air play on local and regional radio stations.
